| ARST: Arbitration
The ARST: Arbitration serves as the point of contact for the Regional
Storyteller. The duty of this assistant is to collect evidence involving
disputes of members. Upon collecting all information and evidence, they
will make a recommendation to the Regional Storyteller that will end the
dispute.
The skill set needed for this position are: excellent record keeping,
steady internet connection, good people skills, concise reporting of events
and the ability to keep confidential matters confidential.
Job Functions
Receive Appeals
1. Receive emails from parties who wish to appeal the decision of a domain/venue
storyteller
2. Ensure that appeal was initially received within 30 days and bring
any late appeal that may warrant an exception to the attention of the
RST
3. Ensure that appeals contain the information required by the Membership
Handbook and querying the member for any missing information before processing
4. Where reasonable, work with the member to clarify any unclear or poorly
worded portions of their appeal
5. Send confirmation email to the member that their appeal is received
6. All responses should take place within one week with an average response
time of 2-3 days
Process Appeals
1. Collect statement on the appeal from the domain/chapter officer in
question
2. Work with the domain/chapter officer to clarify any unclear or poorly
worded portions of their statement
3. Enter appeal and officer statement into the arbitration board database
and create a poll to uphold, reverse, or modify
4. Announce to the RST that the case is ready for review
5. Notify member and officer when the RST reaches a decision
6. Overall appeal should be resolved within 30 days of receiving a complete
statement from the member
7. No action by the ARST: Arbitration should be pending for more than
4 days with an average response time of 2 days or less
Investigation Assistance
1. Notify Member and Coordinator/Storyteller of Investigation
2. Collect hard evidence - statements, character sheets, chat logs
3. Ensure that the Member being investigated has the opportunity to respond
to allegations and to provide additional evidence and witnesses
4. Prepare case for RST Review with recommendation of outcome
5. Notify member and officer when RST reaches a decision
6. All responses should take place within one week with an average response
time of 2-3 days
Report Monthly
1. List all appeals received and not yet closed with summary of the issue
and current status
2. List all appeals closed during the month with summary of the issue
and verdict of the arbitration board
3. Report should be sent by the 10th of the month, though it can be sent
much sooner
Workload and Compensation
30 regional prestige for an average month with 1-3 cases and minor project
work.
Delegated Authority
(All authority should be used with discretion and where appropriate.)
1. Reject appeals filed after 30 days when appropriate
